Pre School Camp

Pre-school children | May 27-30 | 10 a.m., 11 a.m. or 1 p.m. | $35
1-hour sessions to include a different topic each day

WeDo Robotics THIS CAMP IS NOW FULL
Ages 6-9 | June 2-6 | 9:30 a.m.-12 p.m. | $110 per member; $120 per non-member
Get an early introduction to using the LEGO WeDo robotics kits and software. Using motors, motion and tilt sensors, students will build different robots and then program them to complete actions and behaviors.   

Turtle Tracks
Ages 6-11 | June 2-6 | 9:30 a.m.-12 p.m. | $85 per member; $90 per non-member

Does your child have a love for sea turtles? Our camp allows students a first-hand look into their lives from birth to nesting — we’ll track their travels along the way. Participants will embark on a weeklong journey into the world of these magnificent ocean creatures.

 Snakes Alive
Ages 6-11 | June 2-6 | 1-4 p.m. | $90 per member; $95 per non-member
Snakes are a source of wild and sometimes scary rumors, but the facts are more fascinating than the myths. Using live snakes and slides, this program will cover the characteristics and habits of our native snake.
Intro To Robotics - THIS CAMP IS NOW FULL
Ages 10-14 | June 9-13 | 9:30 a.m.-12 p.m. | $110 per member; $120 per non-member
Use the LEGO Mindstorm system to design, build and program a robot to navigate obstacles. Work in teams to complete various engineering challenges
South Carolina Wildlife
Ages 6-11 | June 9-13 | 9:30 a.m.-12 p.m. | $85 per member; $90 per non-member
This week we will discover the wildlife native to our home state of South Carolina. From the white tailed deer to the loggerhead turtle, we will learn about them all.

Star Struck
Ages 6-11 | June 9-13 | 1-4 p.m. | $90 per member; $95 per non-member
This star-studded camp will dazzle children by bringing the stars and constellations down to their earthling level. The wonders of the night sky will be introduced in a fun and friendly format. We’ll experience a Planetarium Show or two in our own portable Star Lab Planetarium.
Advanced Robotics

Ages 11-15 | June 16-20 | 9:30 a.m.-12 p.m. | $120 per member; $130 per non-member

Prior Robotics experience required. Using NXT and EV3 technology, explore advanced programming techniques. Work as a team to accomplish missions based on previous FLL challenges.

Reduce, Reuse, & Recycle
Ages 6-11 | June 16-20 | 9:30 a.m.-12 p.m. | $85 members; $90 non members
Educate students about the importance of conserving resources and reducing the amount of waste going to our landfills. Participate in hands-on science experiments and activities about garbage entering our waterways, recycling, worm composting, reducing packaging and investigate where your drinking water comes from and how it gets to your home. 
Junior Naturalist
Ages 6-11 | June 16-20 | 9:30 a.m.-12 p.m. | $85 per member; $90 per non-member

This camp meets at Hatcher Garden. Get ready to explore the outdoors! Become a Junior Naturalist as we learn about how plants and animals work together to create ecosystems. We’ll learn how to identify the animals that share our world through sounds, smells and tracks. We’ll also take a closer look at plants and animals that call Hatcher Garden Home.

Story Book Science
Ages 6-9 | June 16-20 | 1-4 p.m. | $90 per member; $95 per non-member
Time for a story – and science too! Each day a new story sets the stage for fun activities and investigations. Reading stories has never been so fun.

Bugs, Beetles, Butterflies
Ages 6-11 | June 23-27 | 9:30 a.m.-12 p.m. | $85 per member; $90 per non-member
There are more than a million kinds of insects. Learn to recognize some insect friends. Follow their life cycles from egg to adult, their shape, color patterns, behavior and growth will amaze you. We’ll get creepy and crawly this week.

Rock On
Ages 6-11 | June 23-27 | 1-4 p.m. | $90 per member $95 per non-member
Volcanoes, earthquakes, tsunamis, geodes, gemstones and fossils – a week of geology has never been so much fun! We’ll get our hands on all kinds of rocks and minerals. What makes that rock fizz? Which mineral can cut glass? Come find out as we rock on all week long!

Girls Only - Girl Power

Girl Power will echo through the Science Center this week as we engage and excite girls in all areas of STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering and Math) education

Fizz, Bubble, Goo & Boom  - THIS CAMP IS NOW FULL    
Ages 6-11 | July 7-11 | 1-4 p.m. | $90 per member; $95 per non-member
Investigate magical and explosive reactions using amazing chemicals; learn about electricity, magnetism and waves. Make pennies that float, volcanoes that erupt and oozy gooey slime.
Launch
Ages 6-11 | July 14-18 | 9:30 a.m.-12 p.m. | $85 per member; $90 per non-member
Soar to new heights as we explore things that fly! Campers will spend the week experimenting with objects that glide, twirl, float, and launch! What does an aircraft need to take flight? Find out when you build your own and take it to the skies.
CSI
Age 10-14 | July 14-18 | 9:30 a.m.-12 p.m. | $85 per member;s $90 per non-members
Learn about forensic science and the tools that scientists use to collect and analyze evidence. From fingerprinting, chromatography, DNA extraction and blood spatter, see if you have what it takes to solve the crime.
Superhero Training
Ages 6-9 | July 14-18 | 1-4 p.m. | $90 per member; $95 per non-member
Discover the real science behind some of your favorite superheroes. How do they fly, where does superhero strength come from, which superheroes are great inventors? Develop your own superhero with amazing powers to star in a comic book of your own creation!
Hunger Games
Age 10-14 | July 14-18 | 1-4 p.m. | $90 per member; $95 per non-member
Explore the science behind the Jabberjay, botanical medicine and edible plants, archery and climate change featured in the Hunger Game series. Don’t worry, you won’t have to fight your fellow students to get a chance to learn and have fun.

Story Book Science

Explore the science found in your favorite Dr. Seuss stories. It will be a fantastic adventure through the pages of your favorite characters.

Dino Detectives
Ages 6-11 | July 28-August 1 | 9:30 a.m.-12 p.m. | $85 per member; $90 per non-member
Have you ever wondered how paleontologists re-create the world from when dinosaurs roamed the planet? Look at dinosaur skeletons, investigate evidence left behind. Study live animals and see what can be learned about dinosaurs from behavior.

Simply Science
Ages 6-11 | July 28-August 1 | 1-4 p.m. | $90 per member; $95 per non-member
How many pulleys does it take to lift a heavy load? What’s the difference between a wedge and a wheel? What does a lever do? Discover the answers to these questions and more as you learn about simple machines.

Shark Week
Ages 6-11 | August 4-8 | 9:30 a.m.-12 p.m. | $85 per member; $90 per non-member
Sharks are some of the most feared creatures in the world’s oceans. However, a large part of this fear comes from a lack of understanding, about shark’s biology and behavior. In conjunction with Discovery Channel’s Shark Week, we will spend the week learning about these mysterious creatures.
The Endangered Zone
Ages 6-11 | August 4-8 | 1-4 p.m. | $90 per member; $95 per non-member
Learn about some pretty awesome creatures that used to roam the earth, like stygimoloch, dodos, and the dire wolf. Sadly, these animals are now extinct. Let’s spend the week learning how we can prevent this from happening to other species.
Wild Weather
Ages 6-11 | August 11-15 | 9:30 a.m.-12 p.m. | $85 per member; $90 per non-member
Become meteorologists in training and discover how hurricanes, tornadoes, and thunderstorms develop, and how powerful they can be! Investigating the ways in which weather is predicted and measured, why it rains and how lightening is formed. Observe daily cloud formation and determine cloud types.
Rockin Reptile
Ages 6-11 | August 11-15 | 1-4 p.m. | $90 per member; $95 per non-member
Let’s slither like snakes, chomp like alligators, and climb walls like geckos! It’s time to explore our favorite family of animals: reptiles! We’ll have up-close encounters with the Museum’s most adorable reptiles, study snakeskins, and learn all about the fascinating skeletons of turtles!
