Who says health has to be boring?  This week we will use indoor and outdoor games to discover the joys of being active and healthy.  We will cover topics from exercise to nutrition in a P.E. style camp that's sure to get you up and excited!

Snakes are a source of many wild and sometimes scary rumors, but the facts are even more fascinating than the myths. Using live snakes and slides, this program will cover the characteristics and habits of some our native snakes.

The Science of Harry Potter

Do you love the adventures of Harry Potter?  Join us as we discover the science behind Harry Potter and his cast of characters. Make a magic wand just like those at Hogwarts.  9:30-12:00, Ages 9-12, Maximum 20, $95 members/$100 non members

Knee High Naturalists (Meets at Hatcher Garden)
Investigate nature as a naturalist and explore the amazing diversity of Hatcher Garden’s habitats. Spend the week learning about the animals, plants, and rocks found there. Learn to use basic scientific tools and enhance observation and identification skills.  9:30-12:00, Ages 6-11, $85 members/$90 non members

 

Senior CSI

Ever wonder what happens when a crime is committed?  Join us for a week of Crime Scene Investigation.

Animal Investigators

What animal keeps it house on its back?  How do pigs cool off?  Do bugs have bones?  If you are curious about animals, join us for a week of discovery as we look into the interesting ways that animals survive and live on our planet.   9:30-12:00, Ages 6-11, $85 members/$90 non members

 WeDo Robotics THIS CAMP IS FULL

Get an early introduction to using the LEGO® WeDo robotics kits and software.  Students will build several different robots including a “Hungry Alligator,” and more! Using motors, motion and tilt sensors, students will build different robots and then program them to complete actions and behaviors.

The Secret Life of Stars

Have you ever wondered how stars are born, what they do all day long, and how they die? This camp will look at the birth of stars, the many different kinds of stars, and how different stars come to different ends. We will learn about White Dwarfs, Neutron Stars, and Black Holes.

Are you ready to take off? This high-flying camp is ready for lift off! From mechanical birds to space shuttles, this camp really soars! Build and launch your own rocket! Create an awesome catapult! You gotta see this!

Explore the exciting world of oceans, deserts, mountains, rocks, volcanoes, earthquakes and more as we study our Earth through the disciplines of Chemistry and Geology.

Dr. Seuss’ Science
Explore the science found in your favorite Dr. Seuss stories! Listen up, and look carefully for the little things like Horton, make your own sticky mess like Bartholomew and spend time learning about the Science Center’s very own Box Turtle! Campers will even learn some egg-traordinary science tricks and taste some unusually colored eggs and ham!

Engineer It!

Experiment with simple machines, including wedges, levers, and pulleys.  Use materials to build on your new foundation of knowledge as you try your hand at designing and engineering your own creations.

The Deep Blue Sea

Humans know more about the surface of the Moon than about Earth's sea floor, so dive in with us and explore. Discover the many animals and creatures that call the ocean home. Travel to the deep to learn how creatures use camouflage to survive. There's an ocean of mysteries waiting to be discovered!

Advanced Robotics,

Use the LEGO Mindstorm system to design, build and program autonomous robots to explore challenges with real world applications.  Must have experience with NXT programming.

The Big Bang

What do you get when you take the physics of motion, add in some electrifying experiments, and mix it up with some chemistry? Everyone has a blast!  Experiment with light and flight, make your own slime, and watch volcanoes that erupt.

Weather Watchers

We’ll be windblown and water logged as we investigate the power and beauty of weather.  You’re in for a week of weather adventures as we make it rain and take home your own tornado.  We’ll investigate the phenomenon of our atmosphere and ask questions about weather.  Join us as we discover Earth’s wacky weather!

South Carolina Wildlife

This week we will discover the wildlife native to our home state of South Carolina.  From the white tailed deer to the loggerhead turtle.  We will follow them all.

Fizz, Bubble, Goo and Boom THIS CAMP IS FULL

Investigate magical and explosive reactions using amazing chemicals; learn about electricity, magnetism and waves.  Make pennies that float, volcanoes that erupt and gooey slime.

The Big Dig

Explore the fascinating science of archeology.  Discover how artifacts tell stories of past civilization.  Dig through fossil dirt to look for fossilized shark teeth and meet animals considered “living fossils”

Reptiles – Science through Art (In the Art Studio 9:30-1:00)

Start off in the Art studios recreating reptiles on paper, after lunch join us in the Science Center to learn all about those slithering reptiles you just painted.  Ages 6-11, Maximum 20 $185

The Great Frontier

Set of on adventure as we explore the National Parks of America’s Western Frontier without ever leaving Spartanburg.  We will look at the wildlife, plants and amazing artifacts found in these protected environments.
