Super STEM Saturdays

Every third Saturday from now until May, join the Spartanburg Science Center for fun hands-on experiences in STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Math).  Unless otherwise noted, participation is free with paid admission.

September 20 - Space Out

Join us in outer space as we discuss and explore the total lunar eclipse occurring October 8th and partial solar eclipse occurring October 23.  Take a trip inside our very own StarLab planetarium.  Two 30 minute programs with a limit of 20 people per program will be performed.

October 18 - The Sweet Side of Chemistry
10:00 - 5:00
Join the Spartanburg Science Center and USC Upstate's Chemistry Club and discover the Sweet Side of Chemistry.  Kick off National Chemistry Week with some amazing chemistry demonstrations.

November 15 - Super Hero Science
12:30 - 2:00

Discover the science behind some of your favorite superheroes.  How do they fly, where does their super hero strength come from and which superheroes are great inventors?  Develop your own powers with these amazing hands on activities.

December 20 - Holiday Science Camp
9:30 - 12:00
There's more to the holidays than just present buying, winter vacations and family gatherings.  Learn how crystals are formed, make a melting snowman, see ornaments pop, watch icicles flat and make your own candy cane slime.  This is a class limited to the first 20 to register. $20 members/$25 non members.

9:30 - 12:00 - Under the Deep Blue Sea
Study and learn all about the unusual fish, sharks and shells we find deep down in the ocean.  $22 members/$25 non members

Learn all about the rocky mountains, how they were formed, the large mammals that live there and the impact glaciers had on their formation. $26 members/$30 non members.

9:30 -12:00  Dig It

Take a look at what might be found at an archeological dig, skulls, tools, and arrowheads.  Learn about ancient humans, the clothes they wore, the tools they used and the food they ate.
